Homemade Mac N Cheese

It's officially June and BBQ season!  I don't know about you, but this time of year I'm all about food that's a crowd pleaser but simple to make!  One of my family's favorite go-to side dishes is homemade Mac N Cheese.  Whether I'm feeding my family or taking it to a potluck, this recipe is always a hit and I can't wait for you to try it!
First you'll want to gather all of your ingredients.  Odds are, you'll have everything you need in your pantry and fridge!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

2 cups heavy cream

2 cups shredded white cheddar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp dry mustard

1 lb pasta

Instructions:

1.  Cook pasta according to package directions while making the sauce.  Drain and set aside until ready to use.

2.  In a large pot on medium high heat, add butter until melted.  Whisk in the flour and cook for about one minute.  Reduce heat to medium and add milk, heavy cream, salt, dry mustard and pepper.  Continue whisking until it begins to bubble.  Reduce to low and add cheddar.  Stir until melted.

3.  Add cooked pasta, stirring until combined.

Remove from heat and allow to sit about 5 minutes to thicken.  Season with additional salt and pepper if desired.  We love to add a sprinkle of fresh bacon bits on ours!
