How to Decorate your Table

Fall Foliage Table

One of the things that I have really enjoyed doing, now that we are in our first home, is hosting parties and dinners. It is so fun to me to sit down and plan out a yummy meal full of tasty foods, appetizers, sparkling drinks, and of course delicious desserts. But my favorite part of all of it is setting the table.

The first time I was prepping for a dinner gathering, I was a nervous wreck. I kept wondering how to decorate my table. I wanted to go out and buy everything new. But I learned something very important that year that I try to hold to every time…

How to Decorate Your Table:

  1. Invest in one or two things for your table. Last year I decided I wanted cloth napkins and napkin rings for my table. This year it might be some chargers. The main goal is you do not need to break your bank to set a beautiful table.
  2. Rummage through your house. You will be amazed at what you can use that is just laying around the house. Since it is fall right now I found lots of pumpkins, old books, wreaths, and signs that I could use.
  3. Use nature. Without fail, when I am setting a table you will find me hunting for some sticks, pinecones, berries, flowers, pumpkins, pine needles, pretty much anything that would strike my fancy that day. It is amazing how much you can create with what you have in your backyard.
  4. Think outside the box and have fun. I am a big believer in doing and making what you love. Think about what is you and incorporate that in your table. You will be amazed with what you come up with!

Putting it to action…

While my sister Katie was in town we had fun following these steps and creating our own tablescape. It was fun to see what we both came up with even though we had access to the same items.

It just goes to show that the possibilities are endless with a little imagination . Which one do you like?
